RIVERTOWN ARTISTS' GUILD Meeting Tomorrow Night!‏
Hello Rivertown Artists!

Don't forget the meeting tomorrow night! Board Members and Committee Chairmen please come EARLY so that we can start at 6:00 p.m. We have some important things to cover befor the regular meeting.

NAMETAGS - Decorate one and wear it to this meeting. Artists' Choice Awards will be based upon the best ones!

WEBSITE DEMO - Sara Pearson will be bringing the semi-final prototype of our website. We will have a couple of computers running and hooked up to the Internet to show everyone some ways in and out.

SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL COMPONENT to the meeting this month is as follows:


WORKING WITH BLACK & WHITE MEDIA

For our mini-event, Lynn O’Rourke will set up a still-life arrangement and Vickie Reynolds will demonstrate a few techniques with graphite and charcoal. Please bring your own black & white media supplies, whatever you prefer (which can certainly include wet media such as sumi ink, pen or collage.) The following list is a suggestion only.

Papers:

· Newsprint, charcoal paper, Mi-Teintes or other toned paper (just whatever you’ve got)

Media:

· Graphite pencils or sticks, 2B, 4B & 6B

· Charcoals (vine, compressed and pencils of various hardness)

· White "charcoal" pencil

Other:

· Kneaded eraser & pink eraser

· Cotton cloth scraps or chamois

· Drawing board & clips or tape

· Pencil sharpener

Vickie will bring extra supplies to share for those who don’t own this type of media.

Steve Huyser-Honig is a Rivertown Artist Guild member and a Church of the Servant CRC member and is having his art showcased at our church during March-May. His wife Joan wrote this great press release! Virginia Wieringa (RAG member) is the coordinator of the space. His show is inspirational!

7:15 Altered Books In 2006, Jan Upp made 44 altered books for members of her family and a few friends. Come and see some of these books and hear about some of the pages she included in these books. A DVD will show the covers of these books and her thinking about the project will be discussed.

The pieces for the Lowell Regional have been chosen. Virginia Wieringa has one piece accepted (the piece above- Arise and Shine). Mary E. Andersen also has a painting in the show. Other Rivertown Artist Guild members whose work was sighted include Deidre Wingelaar, Kendra Postema, Lora Ratliff and TWO entries by Gene Sampson were accepted!!

Rivertown Artists at the FUMC Celebration show

Two RAG artists, Dee Versluis and Steve Huyser-Honig, won honorable mentions in the Celebration show at First United Methodist downtown. Other RAG artists sited were:
Ruth Gee, Pat Cole, Kendra Postma, Gene Sampson, Loretta Sailors, Jean Boot, Deidre Wingelaar and Virginia Wieringa. One of Virginia's entries, Jacob's Ladder is the illustration for this post.
